An interactive Internet e-commerce network for the creation, launching and growing of new businesses including the incubation of ideas into successful businesses. The network is the first trade association for the business incubation industry in California.
AN INTRODUCTION
California Business Incubation Network, a nonprofit 501(c)(3) corporation, was established in 1990 and is the statewide association of incubator managers, owners and advocates. Its founders and board of directors and members have expertise in developing and managing both profit and nonprofit incubators.
CBIN membership is comprised of developers, managers and supporters of California business incubators. CBIN's network extends nationally and internationally to approximately 1500 business incubators worldwide.
Purposes:
To promote the concept of incubators as a strategic economic development tool to encourage local economic diversity and to support local job creation.
To provide leadership in the development of business incubators in California.
To facilitate the establishment of linkages with other associations and groups whose interests are related to the needs of small business incubators and new businesses.
To provide resources on incubation that include general information, advisors with a wide range of expertise, collaborations with international incubation experts, and models and guidelines for developing and operating incubators.
CBIN's Program Includes:
Regional meetings and seminars on incubation throughout the year, and an annual membership conference.
A quarterly newsletter and annual magazine.
An information clearinghouse and referral system.
A training institute for managers, developers, and interested parties.
Initiation and coordination of strategies for technology transfer to smaller and early-stage companies.
Facilitation for planning of export strategies in incubator-based companies.
